Metta World Peace is a long way away from his infamy at the Palace at Auburn Hills as Ron Artest, but he did get himself into trouble in Detroit on Friday night.

World Peace was playing for the Killer 3s in a BIG3 event at Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit when he was ejected early in the first half of a game against the Trilogy. The fourth stop of the weekly BIG3 showcase got off to a rough start when Artest got upset about a lack of foul call.

Artest booted a basketball into the crowd, which earned him the gate with the score just 3-0.

No one appeared to be hurt but World Peace was certainly frustrated by the exchange. Killer 3s coach Charles Oakley appeared to be frustrated by World Peace, too.

You can’t do that,” Oakley told his player. “Come on man.”

World Peace, formally Ron Artest, is infamous for the Malice at the Palace in 2004 when he and then-Detroit Piston Ben Wallace had an altercation on the court that escalated when a Pistons fan dumped a beer on Artest, then with the Indiana Pacers, as he laid on the scoring table in the Detroit suburb. Artest then jumped into the crowd to confront and attack the fan.

The incident rocked the basketball world, but this event seems to be much less serious. World Peace was promptly ejected and left the floor, but he high-fived fans, laughed and reportedly took a selfie with a fan after the ejection.
