In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Emilia Clarke, aka Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s Game of Thrones, dished out a few details about the award-winning show, including how the cast is in the dark about its grand finale.
After seven seasons, next year the much-loved fantasy drama will finally come to an end. There are a number of rumors and theories about who’ll ultimately end up on the Iron Throne, and Clarke’s comments only add to the intrigue.
Appearing on THR’s “Awards Chatter” podcast, when asked if she knew how Game of Thrones would end, the actress revealed, “I don’t know that I even do now. I’m being serious. I think they’re filming a bunch of stuff and they’re not telling us […] I think that they don’t even trust us [actors].”
She also added, “There are lots of different endings that could happen; I think we’re doing all of them and we aren’t being told which is actually what’s going to happen.”
Clarke spoke of her mixed emotions about the show’s end. “The transformation of Daenerys is the greatest gift I’ve been given as an actor, 100 percent,” she said. “Daenerys is so much a part of who I am, and I am so much a part of who she is, so it’s this incredibly frightening thing to walk away from — but at the same time, unbelievably exciting.”
